Upvc Door Hinge Squeaks

Once the pin is loose pull it out lift up on the door handle to.

The door has 4 hinges in total the the hinge seems simple it has 2 plastic covers to cover the top part and bottom part i removed these to reveal the metal. Insert a large nail or nail set in the bottom of the hinge and tap the hinge pin out. Then wipe any dirt and grease off the pin and hinge plates with a paper towel or an old rag. Sand the hinge pin lightly with medium 120 grit sandpaper to remove any rust and wipe off any sanding dust.

Next apply a thin coat of lubricant to the hinge pin and the hinge itself and put the pin back in the hinge. In a pinch grease or dish soap can also work. When a door hinge develops a squeak due to wear or settling instead of reaching for a messy spray lubricant try this traditional non toxic non staining lubricant. To lubricate a door hinge start by using your fingers or a pair of long pliers to turn the hinge pin counterclockwise and remove it.

After your hinge pins are cleaned use oil or melted wax to evenly cover the hinge pins. The hinge connects to door by 2 bolts. Wipe off excess grease dish soap or oil if you use any as a lubricant. I tried further lubricating right down the sides of where the hinge turns but it didn t make any difference.

Then place the pins back into the hinge then open the door a few times to test their sound. Wipe any dirt grease or grime off the hinge pin using a cotton cloth. Remove rust on hinge pin.
